Dr. Carlisle, reporting for duty

[Emmett Cullen]

*Emmett sat quietly on the plane as he watched Rosalie check the wires, give Zoe medicine and keep her sedated. Her face said it all, she was worried about how Zoe would react to the truth. The truth about them all and what she was carrying. It was like a death sentence. There was no sure way to know if the child or mother would both survive. As he stared at the woman, seeing her die before his eyes a thought crossed his mind that he quickly dismissed.*

"We will be landing soon, Mr. Cullen."

*The woman said to him softly. She was the co-captain of the plane. Gary was excellent making great time. In no time they'd have her to Carlisle for him to help. He touched Rosalie's hand and gave her a comforting smile.*

She'll be okay, Carlisle will find a way. He always does.

*Twenty minutes later they had landed and were rushed into one of the ambulances Carlisle sent to be waiting for them. Loading her in as she groaned the anesthetic beginning to wear off as Rosalie gave her a small dose of more. Keeping her asleep was best for now. Her heart was not in rhythm as it beat a fragile beat. The ambulance headed down highway 101 toward the Cullen home. With his vampire hearing he heard the driver and passenger EMT whispering. "Wonder why doc is having us bring her to his house if she's so sick?" He sighed knowing they had a point and it would raise questions. Upon arriving to the house, they brought Zoe in as Rose held her hand. Emmett stayed outside by the ambulance waiting for the EMT's to return*

Got a minute? *He asked as they nodded coming closer. As they got closer he extended a wad of cash to them, smiling.

Let's uh...keep this between us? Understand? *With smiles and nods they took the money and left. And they say money couldn't buy happiness. Hah. Heading inside awaiting news on what was to happen, he was almost afraid to know.*

[Carlisle Cullen]

*Hearing the ambulance come up the driveway, I finish getting the required supplies together for Zoe, sitting them on the table next to the hospital bed. Walking out the door to help with the EMT and Medic get Zoe into the dining room cleared except the necessary medical supplies and the extra large hospital bed, against the wall is a stainless steel operating table at the ready. Helping the lift Zoe off the gurney to the bed fussing with the covers around her making sure all the leads are attached plugging in the monitoring equipment and checking the saline drip. Pressing the button to check her blood pressure already knowing by her heart beat it's very below normal, from the pain killers and the restrictions the fetus is putting on her body.*

When we administer her next round of pain killers I will X ray and measure but from the looks of her it would be days, if not sooner if her health deteriorates. I will explain her condition and help her weigh her options.

[Alice Cullen]

It was just a quiet day around the house, and Alice was spending it in a comfy chair with a rather large fashion magazine. Without warning a piercing pain shot through her head and she leaned forward to place her hands on her throbbing temple, dropping the magazine to the floor. Images flooded into her mind at a rate that practically made her fall to the floor. Gradually they began to ease up and she could see them more clearly now. She saw Rose and Emmett outside playing with a beautiful little boy. He had a head full of curly hair, bright intelligent eyes and tiny fingers that were gripping a ball as he threw it back to them. The scene suddenly switched and although all three of them were there again, now the little boy was being taught how to hunt in the woods. Each step carefully guided by Emmett. The three of them looked so happy and natural together. As the images faded Alice found herself kneeling on the floor now. She rose to her feet slowly wondering if she should tell Rose about what she had seen.

[Bella Cullen]

Bella had left Edward and Renesmee to go on a father-daughter hunt, she wanted to catch up with Alice. They hadn't hung out together in a while. With Rose and Emmett in Rio it was the perfect time to snatch her away. Opening the door to the house as she sped into the family media room, where Alice normally was reading her fashion magazines she paused at Alice's face. Her hearing picked up Emmett and Rosalie's voice. Frantically looking about she paused.

"Alice, what's wrong...did you just have a vision? Is it the Volturi?! What is it?!" Quickly rushing to her taking her hands into her own she watched her eyes as they finally met hers. Waiting on edge to know what she'd seen and why Em and Rose were home so early. Something was wrong....

[Alice Cullen]

Alice's hands trembled a little as Bella took them into her own. "Bella? I, no it was nothing bad I don't think. It just didn't make much sense." She looked up and met Bella's gaze before she spoke again. "I saw a little boy. He was playing and being taught to hunt with Emmett and Rose. I'm not sure what to make of it at the moment. Do you think it could mean something important? Do you think I should I tell Rose about it?" Alice cast a perplexed look at Bella and dropped her hands as she walked over to a picture of the family on the wall. She raised her hand and traced the image gently. "I don't want to hurt her. What if nothing actually comes of it? What if I am reading into this all wrong?" She turns back to Bella, confusion and desperation for answers in her eyes. "What should I do Bella?"

[Bella Cullen]

Listening to the words she spoke, watching her move about really wondering what she should do. Her mouth dropped open about the news of a little boy. Rose and Emmett would adopt! Oh that was so wonderful, but why were they home now? Maybe to tell the family? "Alice, I think it's lovely. She'd want to know. You see things for a reason, you know that." Walking over and placing a hand on her shoulder. "And if it goes differently we be there for our sister, like always." Giving her a reassuring smile before pulling her into a hug.

[Rosalie Hale]

*I was relived that we made it back to Forks. Zoe would be in good hands with Carlisle by her side.
Together my father and I worked, making my dear friend as comfortable as possible. She had yet to wake from all the medication but that was probably best for now. I hung another bag of O neg before turning to face Carlisle "You know this is not going to help the way it should until she....drinks it" I whispered. Carlisle nodded as he adjusted the EKG leads. Zoe's heart was getting weaker and weaker by the hour.
"What are her chances Carlisle? I know Bella survived but she got help a lot sooner then Zoe did" I grabbed my friends hand and held it within mine. "If only I went to the island sooner"

[Emmett Cullen]

*He placed a hand on Rosalie's back and rubbed back and fourth to soothe her. She was blaming herself for not going back sooner, but he knew things happened for a reason. Carlisle would not let this woman die, without trying to save her. He'd saved all of them.*

Don't blame yourself, babe. You're doing what you can and she knows that.

*He gave a look at Carlisle and nodded.* I hear the others downstairs. Should we tell them what's going on? *He asked his father as he tried to comfort his wife.*

*Looking from Emmett to Rosalie who are focused on their friend who even without tests I can tell has 12 to 14 hours at best before her body shuts down. We will have to work fast to safely deliver the fetus and to turn her is her best option. Reaching over touching Rosalie on the arm.*

We will keep her comfortable, out of pain. But we should discuss her prognosis and the outcomes. But this was a long trip let's let her rest a bit and have a talk with the family bringing them up to speed.

[Edward Cullen]

Rosalie had asked Edward to find out if he was able to read the baby, too see if he was able to hear anything like he was able to with Renesmee, but with such different circumstances he was not sure he would be able to hear anything, but for his sister he would try as he could hear her thought pounding into him as she worried frantically about how the baby was. was the baby well? her voice stood out louder and stronger than the others, but normally he was used to that as his sister was always such a loud projector. As he entered the room he was hit with a strong wave of disinfectant that stung his nose as Rose entered behind him as she closed the door behind him as the girl that he saw named Zoe was laid unconscious on a large medical with IV tubes stuck into her arms as her body frail as he remembered Bella had once been as he flinched slightly at remembering the thought.

Running his hand threw his hair tussled hair as he inclined further towards the bed as Rosalie stood opposite him on the other side of the bed and watched as she took the girls hand into her own and gently caressed the top of her hand with her thumb as he heard her mind becoming almost empty as she tucked a lock of hair behind the girl's ear. He cleared his mind as he gently laid his hands on the girl's bulging bump as gently caressed it hoping to hear an inkling of an image or a thought or any kind of sound that would ease Rose's worry and fear. He closed his eyes and focused and he inclined his head back slightly as he heard what would sound like a faint whimper of sound that echoed loudly to him.

"The babies happy *he smiled lightly*........and likes the sound of your voice, calming and soothing to the baby" he raised to meet Rose's gaze.

"The baby does" she gleamed back at him as he could hear the change of her thought become more peaceful and less worried at knowing that the baby was happy.

He gently caressed the bump once again and beneath his hands he felt Zoe's body move and he heard her thoughts become alive as her eyes shot open wide and he took a step back as she let out a whaling whimper of fright to see him standing over her.

<She looked up at the stranger and flinched as his cold hands rested on her stomach. Looking around as she saw some familiar faces then back to the man standing there with his hands on her, quickly moving them once her eyes opened.>

"W-who are you? Why are you touching me?" <Then the face came to her, it was the same man she'd seen in Rosalie's pictures, her brother Edward. Did he say baby? Wait what was happening?>

"Rose?" <She asked as she held out her hand realizing she must be in Forks. Something inside of her moved and she looked at her belly, breathing heavily as she began to get frantic>

He placed his hand onto her stomach as he tried to calm her down before she did anything to strenuous that would endanger her life and that of the baby. As she threw her head from side to side between his own and Rosalie's.

"W-who are you? Why are you touching me?" she asked with a pained look displayed clearly upon her frail and sullen face.

"My name is Edward Cullen...I am Rosalie's brother" he responded in his soothing angelic voice to in attempt to try to calm her down as much as he could. But now that was awake he this would be a job for Carlisle to explain everything to her in a way that he couldn't, still remembering everything that his father once told him about Bella and Renesmee.

He pulled Rosalie aside so that he could speak to her more privately, not wanting to leave Zoe alone for too long.

"We are going to need Carlisle, stay with her Rose. Keep her calm and don't let her move around too much" he said with a strong tone.

She nodded as she placed a hand on his shoulder and thanked him silently as she returned to be at Zoe's bedside as he made his way to the door and opened and closed it silently as he made his way to find Carlisle as he inclined his head towards the medical room as Carlisle nodded as he excused himself from the rest of the family and made his way to Rosalie and Zoe.

*Walks into the room to see Zoe away and in a agitated state, her heart rate a little higher than I like with a low blood pressure, so I administer a small dose of valium to her IV because her heart could seize if the news I am about to deliver over sets her. Standing next to her picking up her wrist checking her pulse to see if slowed enough. Looking at her with a passive smile,*

Zoe I don't know if you remember me I am Carlisle Cullen, Rosalies father. We met at the clinic on Isle Esme. I had you airlifted and transported to Forks because your prognosis is a delicate one. The man you saw for a short time was a vampire. When a human engages in sexual intercourse with a vampire, it results in a hybrid fetus which the human female body cannot carry without alot of painful discomfort. Because the fetus gestates in 4 weeks rather than nine months and the fetus tends to delivered at the size of a 6 month human child. I have to tell you that you will not survive the delivery because the amniotic sac is so reinforced that the fetus has to chew his way out of it, and will chew his way out of you as well. You will have to be changed into a vampire as soon as the delivery. Because you have several broken ribs, herniated several discs in the mid back with trauma to the spinal column, and from my examination you have a broken hip. Changing you into a vampire will heal you. But there are disadvantages to being a vampire. I will answer any of your questions, and leave you to think. You have a small window to think, you will deliver in 10 to 12 hours.

[Zoe DeBroux]

<She blinked rapidly as he explained what was happening to her. VAMPIRE? BABY? She...she had sex with a vampire? Staring into space as she listened, her face full of fear and horror to what she was hearing. CHEW its way OUT of her.....what? She....it...whaa--Was Rosalie a vampire too?>

"I have to tell you that you will not survive the delivery"

<Wouldn't survive? She WAS dying. Or would die if she wasn't turned? How the hell were you turned? She'd seen movies, it didn't look appealing. Disadvantages? Well duh....But...if they were vampires how were they always out in daylight, like Rosalie. Trying to wrap her head around the thoughts as she clutched her head into her hands. She felt a cold hand touch hers as she flinched. It was Rose.>

"Are you...are you a....?" <She couldn't say the words. Rose just nodded and tried to soothe her.> "I won't hurt you, Zoe...you know that." <Rose said in a soft voice. She held onto her hand as she looked at the doctor and swallowed.>

"How...how do I live?"

*Watching Zoe's face as she processed what I told her, how she went from shock, into horror and into resignation. Slightly touching her hand proud how quickly she digested the information her question was an easy one, picking up her wrist taking her pulse, a bit thready but not too fast. I laid her wrist down gently leaning over to look at her pupils to see if she's in pain.*

I hate to say this but the change into a vampire is a painful process, we have the venom we produce drawn to administer to you a Intracardiac injection a shot into the ventricular chamber and there will be other injections throughout the body. I will give you beyond the legal amount of morphine to dull this pain, but there will be pain. You will be in a suspended state no one's change is the same, so it could be a matter hours to several days. We will be here with you the whole way. *My phone rings looking at it seeing it was the hospital* I have to take this, if you have anymore questions Rosalie can answer them. *Looking at Rosalie* I have to go to the hospital, I am a phone call away. I will be back as soon as I can.

*Walking out of the room with a backwards glance at the distended belly. Sighing I will solve this crisis in the emergency department and get back as quickly as I can.*
