Edward's speed increased as his heels kicked off from the ground as he began his chase. His mind had been severely clouded for the last few weeks that his hunting abilities had gone down the drain. He was always known as a fine and clean hunter in the past, barely leaving a drop of blood behind and his disposal of the animal corpses was best to none. No one would even think twice about the tracks that were left behind were in fact belonging to a man. But now it was different.
Things were different.
He was different.
His chase of the elk had begun several hours ago as he had been chasing it through the forest between LA Push and his home with Bella. It seemed to be avoiding all contact from him, ducking and diving at every possible chance. No matter how hard he tried he could not seem to regain his focus. It was as though he was running with large rocks in his pockets. His speed was not up to his usual par.
But then he smelt it, and it instantly took over him.
Human blood.
His mouth watered as he swiftly changed direction, his feet carrying him faster than he had ever run before.
Blood was his goal.
