~~~ Earlier That Day ~~~
Edward needed anything to take his mind of things, he had been spending so much time alone that he could hear everyone's thoughts about what was wrong with him and why he was being so distant. He had ignored calls from Carlisle repeatedly and had not been himself around his wife Bella. He had just felt the need to be left alone, unable to control these urges within him. But time seemed to have passed so fast that Edward had not even remembered what month it was as he glanced at the calendar on the wall to see that it was only a few days left until Christmas.
He had been so caught up in his own world that he had neglected everything, but for so long he had been able to hide everything away from those around him or at least he believed that he could.
But for now he would put everything to one side for now, he would pretend that everything was alright, if it meant lying to those that he loved just for a few days. He would try to regain some sort of normalcy for once.
He put his plan into motion.
~~~ Later That Evening ~~~
It had only taken Edward a few hours to put things together, it was always Esme who enjoyed decorating the house but things had been so hectic and different around here that it was not the same. He had purchased the tallest tree from the town of Forks, bought all brand new decorations, purchased presents for everyone. Maybe this would be enough for everyone to stop thinking that something was wrong. But he knew deep down inside that it was all a cover.
But for now it would do.
As he placed the last candle onto the fireplace as he felt the roaring heat prickle his skin, this would be enough. That for a few days he could pretend that everything was back to normal.
Christmas was a day that he could be thankful for....but he hated lying.
