He smiled and stood behind her on the Eiffel Tower holding the railing so that his arms were around her. He leaned closer to smell her hair and could smell the foul scent of sickness. The same scent that was heady in the hospital and when he first met her. She was sick again and it had gotten worse. There would be no other time or way to tell her, he just had to tell her now. But...he wanted one more moment with her.
<The view is breathtaking, but I've gotten the pleasure of looking at someone much more mesmerizing than this for the last month.>

She smiled weakly, her body shivering against the cool night air; even with his arms around her and a blanket over her shoulders she still shook. It was bone chilling cold, the kind that went deep into your bones and held on so tight it took your breath away.
But the breath being taken away part of this wasn't from the cold. It was from the sickness that had wracked her body for more than it had. She knew it wouldn't be long. She just wasn't sure when it'd be the end. The thought of it broke her heart; she didn't want to leave Nahuel. The thought of him being alone was more than she could bear.
"You're crazy," she said quietly as she turned around to face him and slid her hands around his waist, wanting to remember every moment of it. She'd never forget the golden color of his eyes, his chiseled jaw, his short hair. She'd take it with her until her last breath.

He held her close to him, feeling her shiver against him. He needed to get her somewhere warm. Inside the top of the conservatory of the tower, it was warmer so he moved her there. The lights were still visible but you couldn't see out over the city as well. At least it was warmer. He held her to his body to warm her faster. He ran slightly warmer than a human but not as hot as a wolf.
He kissed the top of her head and rubbed up and down on her arms. <Alena...I..I uh...need to tell you something. I want you to listen to everything I have to say before you decide. Just...please...don't hate me.>

She frowned, leaning her face deeper into his chest. He didn't sound too sure about whatever it was he was going to mention. He sounded nervous. And why was he afraid she'd be mad?
"If it's about the diary thing, that's over and done. I told you I'm not upset anymore." Her sentence got broken off quickly with a cough and she let out a sigh. She was so tired.
Lifting her head up and moving her eyes so that they met his, she spoke softly. "What is it, Nahuel?"

Seeing a chair in the corner he led her there and sat her down, kneeling before her and taking both hands into his own. He looked down at them and examined her nails, the color was off and it was a sign of dehydration. He hated that she was sick again, and even worse than last time. Would she hate him? Think he was a monster? Be afraid?
Would she let him save her in the most unconventional way? It was now or never.
<Alena, I uh...> He swallowed hard and tried to think of how to say it. <I have gifts. Well...not gifts sometimes they can be a curse, I uh...well I'm not like you. I'm...different.> He shook his head and forced a smile, looking back up at her feeling so nervous about telling her.
<I was born...to a human woman. My...my father was...a..uh...he was a...> The word came out like a whisper. <Vampire.>

He was speaking softly, slowly, and she had to lean in to hear him more clearly. But obviously she hadn't moved in close enough. She let go of his hand, rubbed a finger into her ear and then looked back at him.
"I'm sorry, a what?"
She watched his face and shook her head again before laughing shakily. "Quit joking, Nahuel. It's too late for jokes." She grabbed his hand and chuckled again, continuing to shake her head.

He didn't want to scare her, but she wasn't believing him. He looked up at her and smiled. <A vampire. I am...part human and vampire. A hybrid. I won't hurt you, I swear it.> He could tell she was still skeptic so he held up a finger.
Using his vampire strength, he lifted her and with his speed, they were on the ground beneath the tower in the blink of an eye. He set her back on her feet and watched her face. <I uh...can move really fast. Please...don't be angry, I didn't know how to tell you.>

She put a hand to her forehead as he sat her on the ground, unable to really register what had happened. He was.... a vampire?
"I.... I don't....understand?"
How was it possible? He was a vampire? A hybrid even? What was that?
"How did you do that? Nahuel, I..... I......" She shook her head and rubbed at her eyes as her vision dimmed, nausea rolling in her stomach. She reached for him for a split second, then pulled her hand back, right before her knees buckled and she fell towards the ground.

He was going to answer any question she had..seeing her confusion. Then in a split second, it all changed and she fell towards him. He caught her and his voice broke. <Alena...No, no, no, no...Alena, answer me! Please!> He looked around and saw no one. He had to get her to Carlisle, he had to get her there now.
The driver heard his yells and came around to help him get her in the car. He monitored her vitals and called Carlisle to alert him of the changes. Carlisle insisted on taking the jet back to New York and told him everything he needed to do to get her stable. He was able to start an IV with the medicine he'd had stored for emergencies and she was sedated for the trip. He never left her side. Tears rolled down his cheek as he talked to her on the way back home.
<Alena...I love you....please don't leave me.>
