~ Out on a hunt ~
Blurs of the trees flew past Edward as he continued on his chase of an Elk that was prancing towards the large rock face as it attempted to evade his grasp. Grasping hold of the nearest branch as he pulled himself up into the air as he swung from branch to branch to avoid any further detection. Normally it wouldn't have taken this much time for Edward to capture his meal, but his mind was not fully on task.
It had been so long since Edward had been out on a hunt alone and he felt like he needed this time alone so that he could try to clear his mind of everything that was taking over him. Bella had gone to go and see her father Charlie as he politely declined wishing to seek out a solo hunt for the time being.
The elk came to a sudden halt as came to the edge of the cliff that over looked the rough sea as the waves crashed along the rock face. The Elk cornered as it sought out another solution of escape. It's hoofs scraped along the rocks as it tried to retrace its steps to seek salvation of freedom. Edward clung from the nearest tree as his teeth gleamed with venom as it pooled heavily in his mouth. Without a moment's hesitation he jumped from the hanging tree branch as he threw himself at the Elk.
His arms wrapping around its neck as his teeth sunk into its neck, feeling the blood swirl like heaven into his mouth, gliding down his throat as it burnt out the fire in the pit of his stomach. The Elk bucked and kicked to seek freedom only for Edward to bite harder into its furry flesh, his teeth scratching against a vein as it burst and saturated his clothes in sprays of blood.
Normally Edward was such a clean hunter, never spilling a drop of blood, but right now he did not care as he craved more blood to calm his nerves, clear his mind. As he felt the last drop of blood leave the dead corpse, with a flick of his wrist he threw the dead carcass into the crashing waves. The body would soon be destroyed leaving no trace of his attack.
Gazing down at his bloodied hands and clothes as he realized what he had done and what would happen if a unknowing human crossed his path. He knew that he needed to seek shelter at home. He did not wish Bella to see him like this. He took off following the breeze of the wind as it carried him home.
His feet barely touching the ground as he ran as fast as he could to be home before anyone saw him. He needed to get out of these clothes now. The Cullen house came into view as he spotted a car in the drive way and recognized it to be his mother Esme's. He could not allow her to see him like this, he began listening out for any sign of her, not being able to pick up any trace of her.
He sped up the stairs to the main lounge to head straight to his and Bella's room to dispose of the bloodied clothes and burn them before he was discovered. But at the top of the stairs he was greeted by someone that he did not hear inside the house as though she was gone.
"Esme...." he whispered.
