Edward couldn't believe it! He gazed out of the large glass window that overlooked the river through the trees that were now changing color to welcome Autumn. It was as though they had never left, as though nothing had changed. But Edward couldn't help feel that something was on the horizon and coming his way to disturb the peace that he wanted again in Forks. He had left countless messages for Nessa but still heard nothing back from her. Bella and Esme had gone out on another hunt, gods knows where Jasper and Emmett were. He knew that Carlisle was around somewhere working.
He could hear Rosalie and Ryder were upstairs playing, but even that could not distract Edward's frazzled mind. He couldn't help feel that something was coming, he had been trying to figure it out. Everything was well with the wolves, the Treaty was now back in place. But it was not a threat from the wolves that had Edward worried.
He had done what Carlisle had asked of him and not spoken a word to Esme about what Bella had given him for their wedding anniversary. He knew it would hurt Esme if he started to question his life, wanting to know more about his human parents. A part of him needed to know.
But for the first time Edward was afraid of the outcome, what would happen if Esme found out? Could he destroy his family like that? No doubt Rose would have something to say on the matter.
But for now Edward was just glad to be home...But the doubts started to creep in
