Walking through the mostly empty rooms of our home here in Forks, I feel so lost. It is quiet save for the echoes of my footfalls through the rooms.
The only things left are a few pieces of furniture we are not going to take, covered with sheets to keep off the dust. The movers left several days ago with our belongings and should be arriving at our new home within a day or so.
I remember all the events that took place here, and realize how much this house means to me. I love it here. But it won't be goodbye - we will be back someday.
Feeling a little melancholy at the stillness of the house, I look around for my dearest, Carlisle. I can face anything if we're together.

I smiled as I walked into the room. It was a sad smile, one filled with melancholy, old memories, good and bad. But this move was something we had to do, and do it we shall.
"It's hard to imagine leaving this place after so many years, isn't it?" I asked as I walked behind my darling Esme and wrapped my arm around her waist then kissed the back of her head. This was where we had first met Bella, where Renesmee had come into our lives, where we had fought against the Volturri to keep our family safe. Esme and myself had brought our family here, so it was fitting that we were the last to leave.
"I'm having a hard time adjusting, myself."

Feeling my beloved put his arms around me and press his lips to my head, I turned to him.
"I'm so glad that it isn't just me that's having such a hard time with this. Although we've had many other homes, each with their own memories, it just seems that we've had so very many firsts in this home. It will always be special to me."
Taking his hand and pressing it to my cheek, I gaze into his eyes - this man I have loved for so many years.
"I'm ready to go make some new memories in our new home. Even though we both will miss Forks and our family so very much, home for me is wherever you are."

I smiled and placed both of my hands on either side of her face, offering her a kind smile before leaning in and pressing my cool lips against hers.
"Home is where the heart is. And my home is always, has always, been with you."
I pulled away, continuing to smile. Rochester. We were going back to New York. Back to the city where I had found Rosalie when she had been on her dying breath. Even though she hated me for it for the longest time, it was still worth it to me.
"I am definitely ready to bring on some new memories. To be on our own again will be strange, though. No kids," I said as I moved my hands down her said to gently encircle her waist, then wiggled my eyebrows. "It should prove to be very interesting."

Smiling at him, I knew what those wiggling eyebrows meant! "My dearest, we have such a big house, and just the two of us. Plenty of time, and plenty of space, and no interruptions." Taking the brochure and photos that our real estate agent sent us, I look at them once more. "Look at all the space we have. Plenty of room for when the kids come to visit, and plenty of room for - well - other activities." If I could have blushed, I would have. Cuddling up close to him, and holding out the photos - "It's a lovely house, and we'll make it a home."

I laughed and pressed a kiss to the top of her head as she held the pictures out in front of me. Esme had always been wonderful at picking places to live and turning them into homes, and this time it appeared she had hit the jackpot.
"This is beautiful, Esme. Just beautiful."
I looked at my watch and loosened my grip on her waist, pulling away ever so slightly. "Is there anything else you wish to see, or grab, before we head on our way? I would like to be there tomorrow night if at all possible."
It would be possible, of course. We never tire, we are never hungry and never have to use the facilities, so the only reason to stop would be to fill the car back up. And thankfully, my Mercedes was very good on gas. We could be there hours earlier than any human would be. Who knew, maybe we would even beat the movers.
"I do hope that the movers don't break anything this time. That vase last time was very old and very expensive."

Looking around one last time, I square my shoulders.
"No - I'm ready. Let's go. The way you drive, Dr. Leadfoot, I have no doubt we can possibly beat the movers! And oh - let's do hope they don't break anything!"
Grinning at him, I link my hand in his as we walk out the door together to begin the next chapter of our life.
