~~Flashback~~
Her mouth was dry and her heart was still racing. She'd slapped Paul across the face with such anger because of the way Jacob had changed since he'd been hanging around with Sam and his "gang". Seeing his body shiver and shift into a dark gray wolf...yeah that's right, a wolf...she fell back on her butt and watched in astonishment as Jacob shifted into a russet brown wolf. Was she dreaming? Had she lost her mind? Sure she didn't believe vampires really existed either and Edward had proved that wrong but now...now her best friend....was a wolf??
"Bring Bella back to Emily's"
Sam said with an authoritative sounding voice, the two fighting wolves out of eyesight as she stood with shaky legs reeling over what she'd witnessed. It was almost too much going on in her mind to even focus on what Emily was saying, and the more she tried to not look at her face...she did. When Jacob stood in the door frame, her heart sunk into her stomach. As much as she wanted to follow him, she was almost afraid...because now she knew. She knew Jacob and the rest were responsible for killing those hikers.

-Paul was ragging.... Bella had slapped him!!! That's right slapped a barely in control of himself wolf. Of course she hadn't known, Paul was shifting! All Jacob could picture is Emily's face. What Sam had done to the one he loved in a moment of anger. There was no choice, Bella would have to see him for what he was. He had wanted to tell her, but not like this....
Running for Paul as Bella was running telling me to go, she had no idea. Jumping and shifting in mid air, i changed into my rusty colored wolf. The fight had begun, Jake couldn't think about how Bella was feeling. Right now he had to keep Paul off her, they rolled and snapped at each other till Jake managed to drag Paul into the woods.
Going to Emily's as the guys were all laughing it off, nudging each other to the door. Standing in the door way, thinking of the best move. Staying wouldn't be wise, he now had to explain. Heaven only knows what she was thinking. Nodding his head they walked to La Push beach in silence.-

She stood her back to him thinking and wondering what she would do or say, knowning he'd followed her out to the beach she looked up and out into the rushing waves coming ashore. Shaking her head to try and wrap her mind around everything that had happened. "They don't kill anyone Jake..." Was all she could say when she turned to face him. She was angry and hurt that he'd held this secret back, all this time he'd said how Edward was not right for her when here he was killing hikers.

What!!!!!! You just ask me if i killed someone? -Shaking his head not trying to loos his temper. Surely she didn't just ask that, couldn't have! How could she think that of him, when she is all loved up with the very thing who was killing people. Breath Jake keep the wolf in, she's in shock. Let her have that one..... Turning back round to Bella, keeping a safe distance. Although he had more control of the wolf side, then Paul did. Jake wasn't about to push that control to the limit.- What's the matter Bella, am i not the right beast for you?  ? |

"That's not it and you know it! They don't hurt anyone." She said as she walked closer to him, not afraid that he could turn into a wolf and rip her to shreds...he loved her. She thought or hoped at least. "Jake...I just..." She sighed and looked down, folding her arms across her chest. "I can't believe you'd hurt those hikers, they were innocent. Why?"

-Turning a hard look onto Bella, now he was angry!- You think we did that? You think that's what we hunt? -Smirks- We protect you, not hunt you. We protect you from the very things that hunt you! You would know all about that though, considering your in love with one of them. Just because we change form completely, does that mean we are more dangerous? My body don't run cold, i have a beating heart, i don't sparkle in the sun. All that makes me so much more of a killing machine. Oh..... and the fact i don't have to feed on blood!
-He's anger had dulled down by now, after all now she knew. She knew the truth, wether or not she could handle it. It was what it was. Looking into Bella's eyes for the first time since she found out, Jake still wanted her to except him. For what he was..... Half human.... half wolf-

"You..I don't...wait you kill....vampires?" Well that explained a lot. The tension between Edward and Jacob always made her assume it was because of her. But not exactly, they were natural enemies...they hated each other because of what they were. "Jake, I'm...sorry, I thought...well I thought.." She sighed and looked down, embarrassed that she accused her best friend of killing innocent people. A soft gasp escaped her lips. "So you...Laurent...that was you?"

-He watched as the thought process went on in Bella's head, as the piece's clicked together she looked down. Her checks flushing a slight pink, it almost made Jake laugh."So you...Laurent...that was you?" A grin came across Jake's face, remembering how good it felt to rip that Vampire's head off.-
That dread lock Vamp! Oh.... he was easy, not a scratch on me. We all have different strengths, it can be speed, smell, the ability to think quick, strength. We have been doing this for years, it's because of the Cullen's and the Vampire's turning up that there are so many of us. If they just went! We wouldn't all be meeting the change.

Bella sighed almost sick of hearing how it was all the Cullen's fault that he was a wolf, the Cullen's fault that she couldn't love him as strongly or in the same way as he loved her. "Jake...Can you just..." She shook her head and turned away from him. Why couldn't he just understand that she still loved Edward, no matter how he'd hurt her. No matter that she wasn't good enough for him and left her here..."Don't.." She said, looking out into the roaring ocean waves. Deep down she struggled because she knew the truth, she loved Jake...just not enough.

-This was getting him no where,time to cool off. Let it register that he was a wolf, Jake hadn't wanted this, however this was him now. He had turned down the the role of Alpha, not wanting to lead or tell others what to do. It felt like he didn't have a life anymore, that it was no longer his own. The time he spent avoiding Bella not answering her calls, it was for her own good.-
I don't want to argue with you anymore, the way i feel of the Cullen's is my choice. The treaty protects them, unless the feed or turn someone. *Sighs*

Well he didn't have to worry about that any more, Edward was gone. She'd never be turned by him and now he could live happily with knowing there were no vampires in the area, that fact angered her and she turned to face him. "They're gone...all of them. So why does it matter now? He LEFT Jake...you got what you wanted." Turning on her heel, she walked closer to the shoreline and folded her arms across her chest. She wanted to slap him because of how jealous he was of someone who was no longer there. Edward did not love her, she was not good enough for him, that's why he left. Biting her bottom lip to refrain from letting the tears fall, feeling broken again at the mention of his name. It was like it was all better...until she heard it, making it real. The pain she felt...it was intense and it was killing her. Even Jacob couldn't make it better, no matter how badly she wanted him to.

-Fuck!!! He had upset her, gone to far with the whole Edward thing. As she turned clearly upset, Jake automatically took a step forward with her. Thinking about it, he stayed put giving her a minute to get herself together.-
Bella i'm sorry, i never meant to upset you. I just.... i didn't want this, now i'm faced with it for my life it's not something i wanted at all.

Hearing his words she knew he was sorry and didn't mean it, not as it sounded at least. She turned to face him and sighed. "It's okay Jake. I know...Thank you...for Laurent. He'd have killed me for sure had you not showed up." Wrapping her arms around his shoulders she hugged him and closed her eyes. Why couldn't she just love him as much as she wanted to, as much as he wanted her to. Jacob Black was good for her....so many had said so. But he wasn't...him.

-Bella hugged him, it felt so natural to Jake. Bella fitted into his arms perfectly, he felt every time they touched that they was meant to be together. If only the hug meant something else to her to, one day he would win her over. Make her realize they were soul mates, he hadn't imprinted on Bella. He wasn't sure he could imprint, was he ever going to? What he felt for Bella was as real as anything. He loved her that was all that mattered.-
No worries, that's what we do... protect people and all. Okay i may have my eye on you slightly more, within good reason it seems. -They both laughed, holding on to each other for longer than necessary.-
