Edward could hear his wife's pain wrenching calls as he shut her out and continued to run to where ever his feet took him, not caring about any damage that he left in his wake. Not caring about anything that waited ahead of him. He just needed to leave, his fits clenched together in firm fists as he continued to cause havoc to the shrubbery and the tress that stood in his way. Esme would not be please, but at this moment in time he did not care, he was angry, angry at Bella, himself, and for most Aro.
The Volturi
He knew that one day the Volturi would seek out their revenge for what had happened that day in the clearing, and he had always remained on edge until the day they would strike out. Believing that he would be on the line of attack. That he would be the one to take Aro down, to seek Edward out after his narrow escape from Volterra when Bella had rescued him when he believed that she no longer lived. That he had been the cause of her death from afar, by leaving her. Assuming that his family were a danger to her human life. But now through his foolishness Bella was paying the price for his mistake that believing that Aro would be that reckless to kidnap their daughter. He automatically assumed the worst by attempting a peaceful venture to Italy to face Aro and the rest of the Volturi guard.
But unknowing that their daughter was safe, that he had put Bella's life and the rest of the family's life in danger, his stupid act had cost Bella her freedom. 100 years, may not seem a long time for the immortal, but to him it would be an endless despair of torture and devastation, not only for him, but their daughter and the rest of the family.
Changing his mind of every direction he made, knowing that Alice would be searching for him, but right now he needed time alone. He was not ready to face them yet. He could go to Italy alone, make Aro release Bella from their deal and he would take her place. No, that would not work, she would follow him to the ends of the earth for him, as he would her. The constant buzzing from his cell brought him back, as he halted his running, he pulled out his cell...There was several messages from Alice and Rose. And plenty of missed calls calls from everyone. He did not want to be disturbed.
But he knew he could only avoid them for so long.
Now he had a two choices.
Take the road to Italy
Or the road back home...to Bella.
He had never felt this torn before, torn over who to go to. Before he would have chosen Bella in a heart beat, but now........Now he was split.
Pondering for a moment as he closed his eyes. Clarity. Speeding back in the same direction that he had been travelling from.
He was going home. He couldn't leave things with Bella the way they were, their argument still heavily lingering in his mind, his anger betrayed him and he had hurt 'HIS' Bella.
He needed to go home, letting his feet carry him as fast as he could.
