*Emmett sat in the rocking chair next to the window that overlooked the front yard, the stream flowing with ease as he rocked Ryder. The last few weeks were so peaceful. Spending Christmas with the family, seeing Esme's face at her gift that Bella had chosen to be from all of the children. Carlisle had mentioned in passing that he may take Esme away for a while. He couldn't help but feel slightly guilty that it was because of Ryder. This immortal life was a blessing, but sometimes, for the women of the family...it was just a curse. He'd watched Rosalie suffer for so long with the idea of being a mother but never able to give her that gift.
Ryder's growth was unlike Renesmee. He grew at a slower pace. Only close to three months old but he was beginning to pull himself up and stand. The day he pushed his walking toy Rosalie about had fit. Carlisle predicted that once he would gradually increase growth rate as time went on. He looked down into his son's face and grinned. Rosalie was with Bella and Alice as they searched for answers on where Renesmee could have gone. He tried to tell them she'd be fine, she needed her space. But in their eyes she was still a little girl. He had a special relationship with Ness, he understood her. She reminded him of his little sister he had in his human life. She had bouncy brown curls that framed her face and the most beautiful brown eyes. Her personality matched Bella and had a mix of Renesmee in it. She was only fourteen when he went hunting that day.....*
~~1935~~
*He nodded to his father at the breakfast table. "I know father, I'll make sure to bring in double this time." Winter was fast approaching and his mother had cooked the last of his deer meat from a month ago. His sister stood and helped their mother clear the table. He was used to working hard, helping his brothers with the railroad. But since he was now the oldest of the family and his father's health diminishing faster, he had to make sure to bring home the meat. He took one more bite of his toasted bread and stood. "I'll be back by night fall. I want to get as many as possible to stock us up for the winter." His father nodded as he kissed his mothers cheek. With his rifle in hand he set out to hunt. Deciding to try the mountains instead and maybe find larger game he started up the long climb. Once he finally reached the top he smiled and looked out over the forest. A low growl made him turn slowly around to see a large bear. The bear let out a feral roar and slowly stepped forward. He fumbled with his gun to load it but failed to maintain it in his shaking hands. He backed away slowly, the last thing he remembered was his back hitting the ground and the warm feel of his blood followed by searing pain.*

~she inhaled deeply, her mouth almost watering. There was something close... really close, and it was bleeding profusely. As she got closer, her step faltered and she clenched her hands into fists so tight that her nails dug into her palms and almost cut them. It wasn't an animal.... it was a human.~
~her mind screamed for her not to keep going, but she couldn't help it. She took off towards the scent, swerving around trees and kicking up dirt as she went. That dark, heady, rich scent got stronger and stronger the further she ran and her speed increased along with it. She came to a clearing, and stopped dead in her tracks~
Henry? ~she whispered softly, her hands curled back into claws and digging back into her palms as she fought the urge to pull the bear off of what was sure to be a delicious meal. The man under the bear looked just like Vera's little boy, Henry. She couldn't, no she wouldn't allow his light to be snuffed out, not like this.~
~she bolted forward and jumped on the bears back, her nails digging into it's fur and her teeth burying in its neck as she took hard pulls on the vein, her eyes meeting the dying mans as she fed~

*His eyes glazed over as the pain almost felt numb; his body lay mangled and broken, scratches on his face and chest from the massive claws the bear had. Blood covering his and matted in his curls. He heard the bear cry out in pain as he blinked heavily and raised his head slightly before he lost strength and let his head fall back. Her eyes a deep brown color as he tried to blink away the tears. She attacked the bear and....bit it? He was hallucinating. Maybe this was dying, maybe he was dead. The bear fell to the ground as blood surrounded her mouth. His eyes met hers and he smiled. "Beau....ti....ful..." He whispered as he reached his bloody hand up to touch the angel that hovered above him. The sun cast down and made it look like she had light surrounding her and her skin sparkled. Angels were beautiful. He was raised to believe in God and now he'd meet his maker. What a lovely sight to die to. Blackness took him under as he lost consciousness.*

No! NO!!! ~the bear was struggling underneath her weakly; she gripped the bears head on both sides with her hands, twisted and the bear fell limp on top of the man. She climbed off of his back, grabbed the bear in her hands and tossed it to the side as though it were nothing more than a piece of cloth or a branch. It landed with a thud 50 yards away; she dropped to her knees beside the man, surprisingly oblivious to the blood pouring from his body and pooling underneath him. He smelled.... so divine.~
Hey, you listen to me okay? I'm.... I'm going to help you. ~You can do this, Rose. Just bite him. Give him your venom. She looked at him and leaned in, but she couldn't do it. She couldn't bite him, couldn't give him the venom that ran through her veins to save his life. Her heart felt as though it were being torn into pieces when suddenly... a moment of clarity. She grinned, knowing it would have scared the poor man if he had been awake to see it. Picking him up and cradling him in her arms as though he were an infant, she took off through the woods and back towards home~
~Carlisle. Carlisle could save him, just as he had saved her. Had saved Esme. Had saved Edward. He had to do this, for her.~

*He saw blackness, felt nothing only a sense of calm seeing the angel gave him. He wondered where the rest of the angels were and if he'd meet God. Maybe this was hell if all he saw was blackness. That's when things changed. His body felt as if he were set on fire, being roasted from the inside out. In his mind he screamed and thrashed about, unsure if he was actually moving on the outside. It was scorching pain that seared his insides slowly; the pain was far more worse then the bear. The bear was feather like touches compared to this agony. A slight numb feeling washed over him for a few minutes at most before the pain started again, almost worse than before. The darkness surrounded him and it was then he realized he must be in hell, punishment for not being the man he should have been, although he tried to be. He screamed out in his mind constantly as his body thrashed trying to rid himself of the flames that licked at him, but nothing helped.*

~it hadn't taken her long to get there, and when she had barged in the door demanding that Carlisle save him as he had saved her, the look on her (for all intents and purposes) fathers face was priceless.~ Carlisle! You have to save him! You just.... you just have to!
~he had been adamant about not doing it at first, but eventually he conceded. It was terrible to watch, but she never left his side. She wouldn't let him go through it alone, even though the blood at first... it was almost too much. The thing that helped her fight it? His face.... She ran her fingers through his hair as he lay perfectly still on the table, didn't stop when she felt him take his last breath, didn't flinch when his heart slowed and then stopped. She sat with him the whole time. And when he opened his eyes, his bright red eyes.... If her heart had beat, it would have been racing.~
~he was beautiful. Not as beautiful as she was, but he was close. She smiled down at him and ran her fingers through his hair as he looked around. She knew he would be up and freaked out at first, but she couldn't stop touching him. She had to be close to him.~ Hello. ~he stared at her as he lay there, and she waited anxiously to see if he would speak~

*The pain, after what felt like hours, days even...finally stopped. He could hear sounds that he thought were strange. He could smell every single thing in the room. Opening his eyes he could see the small molecules of dust particles swirling in the air. He felt someone running fingers through his hair as he turned his head towards the face of the angel. "Am I...dead? Is this....heaven?" He wondered what her name was. She had the most beautiful golden eyes and blonde hair that hung past her shoulders. She was absolutely breathtaking and smelled so intoxicating. Blinking a few times as he sat up on the table he laid on and looked around, really confused. A searing burn in his throat caught his attention and he grabbed at his neck and looked at her panicking. More pain, more...everything.*

~his voice was amazing and sent little shivers down her spine. Upon hearing if he was dead, or in hell, she laughed and tossed her head back slightly before looking back at him and crossing her arms over her chest~ No. You are not in hell. Although dead... ~she looked at Carlisle who just shrugged his shoulders, continued smiling then turned and walked out of the room. She turned back to the man and sidestepped his question~
What's your name? I'm Rosalie. Rosalie Ha... ~she cleared her throat. Best not to freak him out with letting him know who she was, for she had been well known before she had been killed. Smiled at him.~ You can call me Rose.

*Her voice was like music to his ears. So soft in tone, and her laugh...it made him smile. He couldn't stop staring at her, but the pain in his throat was getting unbearable. He swallowed hard as the acidic feeling stayed. "Beautiful name...fits it's owner. Rose....Roses are nothing compared to your beauty." Remembering her say he was dead...the look on the man's face as he left the room...what had happened, the last thing he remembered was a bear attacking him and the face of an angel...his angel. Her "You...you saved me....aghh...what is that?!" He couldn't take the burn any longer as he coughed to try to relieve the pain.*

~she chanced it and moved closer to him, holding out a hand to him~ I- ~she sighed~ I'm unsure of how to explain this to you. ~he didn't reach for her hand so she lowered hers and met his red eyes with her golden ones~
Have you ever heard of... of vampires? ~she waited, silently, to watch the look on his face change from confusion, to deeper confusion, to realization. When he looked at her slightly flabbergasted she reached her hand out again for his~ That feeling... that burning in the back of your throat? You're hungry. Or... or thirsty, whichever way you want to look at it. ~she had never had to explain this before, to anyone. But now, he was hers. That was the stipulation from Carlisle - she had to help him learn how to do it, help him through his transition.~

*He blinked hard when she said the word vampire. He'd heard of it in old films and such but it was...fiction. Wasn't it? Things like that didn't exist. When she explained he was hungry that's when he lost all control and let out a growl at the pain. "Make...it....make it stop please!" He begged her with pleading eyes as he held his throat. Continuously swallowing and trying anything to make the pain go away.*

~how was it that this person, this man that she had never met before today, had managed to make her heart ache so much? Gripping his hand, she stood quickly and met his gaze~ Come on. I'll show you what to do.
~there was no way that she'd leave him to learn on his own. She was the one that made the decision to do this to him, so it was on her to show him the ropes~ It's not hard, I promise. You'll get the hang of it. ~holding his hand tight still, she ran out the door with him behind her, and into the woods~

*When she took his hand into hers he looked into her eyes, almost forgetting the pain in his throat...almost. He couldn't move, the feel of her skin against his was insanely electrifying. Before he knew it she pulled him towards the door at a really fast speed, a normal human could not go that fast and oddly, he kept up with her. He grinned at the wind blowing against him as he ran, super fast. Things passing him in a blur of colors. The way her hair flowed in the wind made him smile wider. They were going deeper into the woods when he stopped in his tracks and caught the smell of something. Something that smelled so delicious it literally made his mouth pool with saliva. That smell mixed with the smoke of a campfire that burned nearby. The man was asleep, he looked around for food...the food that he smelled that made him hungrier. Then realization hit when he realized what he smelled was the man...and saw the blood on the bandage around his leg. Instinct took over as he lunged for the man and dug his teeth into his neck before the man could even move, he was rendered frozen...frozen by fear, by the venom and by his death slowly approaching as he pulled his blood into his mouth.*

~she froze as he bolted forward and sunk his teeth into the mans neck.~ NO!! ~she ran forward and pulled him away quickly, her arms pressed on his shoulders as she stared deep into his eyes and held him back. She was stronger than she looked, thank God, but he was... really, really strong. She didn't even know his name~
STOP IT! Look at me. LOOK AT ME!! ~he wouldn't look at her, but kept fighting and staring at the man that was laying on the ground with a hand to his neck and a look of fright on his face. They'd have to kill him. She blanched as she tried to figure out what to do; she had never had human blood before, not even when she killed Royce and his friends.~

*He was pulled from the man and tried to fight her to get back to him, but she was really strong for a woman. He growled at her as blood dripped from his chin, finally his eyes met hers and he felt hungry again, but not for blood. Well blood was still top two but right now he just wanted this woman. This woman he was so attracted to. He stopped fighting and stared at her. "I want more..." He said with a throaty growl, his need to drink more almost overpowering his will again. The way she licked her lips shattered his resistance as he pushed her backwards to the ground, pressing his lips to hers in such desperate need.*
