Slowly creeping into the woods for a parimeter check near the Cullen’s home, as Jacob requested, I found a small pink hair bow lying near a stack of old mildewed wood that look like it had been sitting there for at least twenty years. –snarling my nose as I turned my head away from the stench of the rotting wood- Nothing seemed to be a threat around here, so I shifted back into human form. I slowly walked towards the pink hair bow, bent down and gently wiped the dirt off the top and picked it up. I blew off the dust so I could get a closer look.
Looking at the hair bow, it took me back to my childhood. Every morning before school, mom would brush my hair and put one of those bright colored hair bows in my head. Little did she know, I always yanked it out before other kids would see me at school. I always had to come up with some excuse as to what happened to it when I got home, so mom started putting my initials on the back of the clip, “LC” as if anyone would know who it belonged too. –smirks-
Closely examining the hair bow, I noticed some markings on the back of the clip. It had become so faded that all I could make out was the letter C. Maybe it was Nessa’s hair bow?! Her last name starts with a C. –Looking at the hair bow in awe, thinking- What if this could be one of my hair bows? “Surly not!, I blurted out. How, when, what, who, could have brought it here? I wanted to know for certain, so I spit in my hand and wiped the back clip clean and sure enough, there were the initials, “LC” –tears began to form- I dropped to my knees and began to cry. Dad must have found my stash of hair bows that I hid in his shed. I knew he use to go fishing with Charlie near here, but why did my hair bow end up here? Looking around the rotting wood pile, I noticed a small fire pit that hadn’t been used in a long time, a couple of fishing lures, and a small canister. Did dad and Charlie hang out together here after fishing? Somehow I knew he had been here. I walked over to the canister and picked it up. I pulled and pulled to try to get the top to come off but I just wasn’t strong enough. I got aggravated and slung it up against a tree beside of me, with a loud clash, I seen what looked like colorful confetti flying out of the canister. After the pieces settled on the ground, I realized then it was more hair bows. Picking up each one, I turned them over to find my initials, “LC”, written on them too. –smiling- It was then I knew dad had brought my stash of hair bows out here to keep mom from finding out and getting mad at me. He was the best!
