*I walked through the doors of the Cullen house and placed my bags just inside. The sun was just setting and like always Emmett and made sure the house was prepared for our arrival. It was beautifully lite with candles and other soft lamps. Ever since we saw the need for a clinic here on the island, my father, Emmett and myself had been spending more time here. Things were coming along great and the clinic would be up and running in about a year.
I had become really close to Zoe, a nurse that I met a year ago, working the late night shift at the hospital. I had spent many hours telling her of Isle Esme and the clinic that we were working on. She said that she had spent some time working for the Peace Corps right after high school and thought it was a wonderful idea. This trip back to the island, I asked her if she wanted to come along. It was harder traveling with a human, making sure all the flights were at night, that the car was tinted so that the sun had no way of coming through, but in the end I think it will be worth it if I can draw more attention to the need of the clinic here.
"Rose, this place is beautiful" I heard Zoe said as she come up behind me. "Yes, it is probably one of my favorite places on earth" I walked up and wrapped my arms around Emmett. "Wait until you see the village and the clinic site. They have just now started to build but it is going to be wonderful" Emmett pulled me into him.
"I am going to take everyone's bags to the rooms and let you girls talk" he said as he kissed the top of my head. Laughing I turned to Zoe "In other words, he is going to go checked the scores on his iPhone" She laughed as she turned to look back outside the large glass doors. "So this place, all of this" she motioned with her hands "belongs to your father?" I walked up to stand beside her, wanted to play off how financially well off my Carlisle was, I said "Well just the house actually. I mean, who can own a whole island? Well I guess Donald Trump could" She walked out onto the patio and I followed "When Em is done, if you feel up to it, we can take a walk to the village" She looked at me and the confusion showed on her face "In the dark? In the jungle?" I just smiled "Yes, in the dark. We have flashlights silly...." hearing Em step outside the house "and Emmett, there is no safer place then with this guy" I elbowed him in the side. Emmett flinched as I realized I elbowed him a little too hard. "You guys are so cute, look at Emmett pretending that a tiny thing like you could hurt him. He is as big as house" She turned to stare back out over the water. I looked at Emmett and mouthed the word "sorry" and he rubbed his side. As she turned back at us, he quickly lowered his hand.
I can't believe you guys have only known each other for 3 years. When I watch the two of you together, it is like you guys have been married for much longer. You remind me of how my grandparents were with each other. The both of you are two old souls" Laughing she added "You two must have known each other in a pass life" I couldn't help but look at Emmett and smile, remembering both of our "past lives".
We went inside and changed into clothes more suitable for walking in the jungle, grabbed our flashlights and headed out to the site. She loves the sights and sounds of the jungle at night, she wasn't scared a bit. She looked like she belonged here, she looked at home here. Once we returned to the house, she mentioned how much she loved the place and how she thought what we were doing was such a great idea. She told me she wanted to help in anyway she could. She said her goodnights and headed to her room. Once we felt she was nice and asleep, Em and I headed out to hunt and maybe scare a very jungle animals while we were at there. I was happy and hungry for more then just blood*
