Bella couldn't believe that Renesmee knew, how could she have known? It was...impossible. Was her powers that advanced? It had taken her completely off guard to hear her daughter confront her on keeping her own secret, to which she didn't know how to respond with all eyes on her. Edward's pained eyes looking at her, to hear she was keeping something from him...She just shook her head and left the house, speeding to the one place she could think....The Meadow.
It was still winter, earth looking barren as the flowers hadn't bloomed yet. Not cold enough for snow just yet, but still a frosty chill hung in the air. This was their spot, their haven...a safe place full of happy memories. How could she tell her husband, the love of her life what she'd been hiding. It would kill him, and he'd fight her over it. Dropping to her knees she shook her head and wished there was another way.

Bella...His Bella had been keeping a secret from him. She had never kept anything from him. Ever. As Bella raced out of the Cullen home, he glanced around at the others who were still confused about what the secret was. Not leaving anything to chance he sped out after her, there was a chill in the air, a breeze washed over him as he sped past the trees and the shrubbery as he caught a whiff of her scent and followed her.
What was this secret that their daughter had known about? And why did he not know? He told Bella everything, as he stopped abruptly on the edge of the meadow, their meadow that was not yet in bloom as it was still winter.
Slowly he watched her fall to her knees, he slowly strode over to her, only wishing that he could get inside her head.
"Bella *he sat down to his knees, her finger raising her chin to meet her gaze* You left...what is it your not telling me? What's wrong?

She heard him approaching and looked down at the place where lavender spring flowers bloomed, running a hand along her arm nervously. He was in front of her, sinking to his knees as he said her name. She closed her eyes and held in her emotions. Lifting her chin with his finger as she opened her eyes and looked at him, such a pained look...heartbreaking into millions of pieces knowing she didn't have much time.
You left...what is it your not telling me? What's wrong?
She said nothing, just lunged forward and wrapped her arms around his neck, holding him to her. Three days....she would cherish those three days every second of every minute. Time seemed to stop in this moment and she wished she could truly stop time, reverse time...anything to take it back. "Edward...." She whispered as she felt like she'd fall apart if he didn't hold her together.

"Edward...."
He heard her whisper, truly afraid for her, what was she keeping from him? To make her run from him? Her family? Cupping her cheek in his hand as his thumb traced her cheek as he raised her eyes to meet his again.
"Bella...I can't help you if you don't tell me what is wrong? Please *he pulled her into his arms and rocked their bodies softly in tune with the breeze* You have never kept anything from me. You need to tell me. I need to know.

She pulled back to look up at his eyes. "Edward, I did it for you...I did it for Renesmee...you have to see that." Placing both of her hands on his face as she looked at him, "I love you, please...please just know that. There was....no other way, Edward." Her face looked as if she were crying although no tears came out. If she could just say the words, if she could just tell him. Hoping that one day he'd forgive her...he'd understand. Placing a soft kiss on his lips that lingered, reluctantly pulling away and looking down as she gathered her thoughts. "I can't tell you...I'll have to...show you."

"I have to understand? Bella you truly have me worried. What are you scared of?" he quizzed as she placed a soft kiss on his lips, for once, he was worried for Bella.
"I can't tell you...I'll have to...show you."
"Bella, I am dying here. Please. I need to know. You know I will always love you, no matter what" Edward pleaded with her again, hoping that she would show him everything.
"Show me" his word barely a whisper.

Bella closed her eyes and exhaled slowly as she remembered her talk with Aro...after arriving in Italy. Her shield removed as she focused on letting him see what happened....
Just then the doors opened and Aro emerged, his arms slowly opening in welcome.
"Ah, Isabella. What a lovely surprise. To what do I owe this visit?"
Her hands clenched to fists. "You.know.why." She said between her teeth and made sure her shield was over her. His face turned to amazement as she almost snarled at him. "I am sorry, but I have no idea what you speak about."
"Where's Edward?! I know he's here. I know you're holding him against his will, Aro. What do you want!??!"
He grinned sadistically and she knew she was right.
"What is it I want? Hmm well what an interesting question." He began to slowly circle her maintaining eye contact with her. She wouldn't let her fear show, she was determined to find her husband and bring them back to their own piece of heaven, away from this place. Her fists clutched at her sides, realizing Jane and Alec were not present, only meaning one thing...they must be with Edward. Her eyes shut closed as she tried to remain calm and unmoving.
"Just...just let him go! Please?" He was still spurned from the last encounter five years before...when the Volturi had finally been stood up against. Smirking as he stopping circling her and clasped his hands together in thought. "Bella, Bella, Bella....I am always willing to make a deal."
She felt her anger getting higher, almost to the point of wanting to attack him but knowing the consequences of that. "What kind of deal? What could I possibly have for you?" He smirked and leaned in closer to her making her clench her jaw. "Protection...." It all made sense...he wanted her in his collection. "Wha--what?" She sputtered out, feeling her throat closing in on her. He smiled and clapped his hands together and proceeded to slowly circle her again. "I'll make it simple for you, join my guard...and I won't ever hurt your family again. Consider it a trade. You instead of Alice, Edward and Renesmee. Ah yes, I've heard the young ones gift may advance...such gifted parents why wouldn't it?!"
"N-No, I could never...I would never! And you will NOT touch my daughter."
He snarled and caught himself before grabbing her throat. "Trust me Isabella, you don't want to cross me. Join my guard or Edward will suffer greatly. As will your family, and next time there won't be any witnesses." She thought about what he wanted. He wanted her to be in his guard to protect him. "I thought you had your own shield, why do you need me??" She questioned.
"Renata? Oh a valuable asset indeed, however....what fun is having just one, when you can have two." He grinned sarcastically and she knew he had bigger plans.
"You must swear on your life to never harm any of my family, even the wolves. And...give me time to go home and let my family know. How do you expect me to just...leave Edward? My daughter?"
"Oh don't be silly, you can bring them along. I'm sure I have room for them as well." His smile was brighter and she knew this was his plan all along. If she came they all would.
"100 years, that is all." She said trying to stay calm and confident. He looked her over, and tilted his head.
"100 years? We can discuss time later."
"100 years or there is no deal and I promise you I will find a way, I always do." He thought it over and grinned, probably having a second plan in mind. Nodding once, "100 years....it is."
Her heart plummeted. What had she just done. He laughed his wicked laugh and walked away, ordering Chelsea to show her to where Edward was being kept. Clutching her chest....100 years away from Edward...100 years away from Renesmee....one hundred years....No.....

Edward felt all his worst fears be confirmed. As he continued to read Bella's mind, the deal that she had made with Aro.
THE SECRET
Bella had promised herself to the Volturi.
To Aro for a 100 years service. To save him. To save her family.
His mouth had gone dry, his body shaking with fear as he abruptly stood from Bella, his eyes wide with shock. He finally found the inner strength to turn to Bella.
"You did what!"
